You've reached your submission limit

Understand your plan's yearly submission limit: what counts toward it, what happens when it's reached and how to get more.

As an administrator, you see the message You've reached your submission limit under your current plan. when your organization reaches its yearly plan limit. The message shows at the top of the dashboard. This article explains what counts toward the limit, what happens when it's reached and how to get more submissions.

Submitters see Submission limit reached. on the submission form. They see the same message when the event's own limit is reached.

Event limit vs. plan limit

Fourwaves has two kinds of submission limits:

  • Plan limit: the yearly number of submissions that your organization's plan allows, for all its events together. This article is about this limit.

  • Event limit: an optional maximum that an organizer sets for one event. See Set a submission or registration limit.

What counts toward the plan limit

The plan limit counts every submission created in the events of your organization during the current plan year. This includes:

  • the submissions of all your organization's events, published or not;

  • withdrawn and deleted submissions;

  • the submissions of events that you deleted;

  • the submissions that organizers add on behalf of submitters.

The plan year starts on the start date of your current plan. It starts again every 12 months on that date.

Note: Withdrawing or deleting a submission doesn't free up a spot in the plan limit.

Check your plan

To see how many submissions your organization used this year:

  1. Sign in and go to your organization dashboard.

  2. Click Plan & billing > Plan.

  3. Look at Submissions used this year. It shows the number of submissions used out of your plan's yearly limit.

Only administrators can open Plan & billing.

What happens when the limit is reached

When your organization uses 80% of its plan limit, administrators see the message You're nearing the submission limit on your current plan. The message shows at the top of the organization dashboard and the event dashboards.

When your organization reaches its plan limit:

  • Administrators see the message You've reached your submission limit under your current plan. If you click Dismiss, the message comes back the next day.

  • The submission forms of all your organization's events show Submission limit reached. Nobody can send a new submission.

  • Organizers can't add a submission on behalf of a submitter.

  • Submissions that you already received aren't affected.

  • Registrations aren't affected.

Increase your plan limit

To get more submissions, an administrator upgrades the plan to a higher tier. Each tier shows its yearly number of submissions when you select it.

  1. On the Plan tab, click Upgrade next to your tier. You can also click Upgrade in the message at the top of the dashboard.

  2. Follow the steps in Manage your plan.

When your plan has a higher limit, your submission forms accept new submissions again.

If you aren't an administrator, Upgrade shows the message Looks like you're not an admin. Ask an administrator of your organization to upgrade the plan.

The Pro tier has a custom submission volume. For the Pro tier or other plan changes, contact sales@fourwaves.com.

Check your event limit

If Submissions used this year is below your plan limit but submitters see Submission limit reached., the event's own limit is reached. To accept new submissions again, an organizer increases or removes the limit in Submission > Form > Settings. See Set a submission or registration limit.

The message appears but you haven't reached any limit

If your event has few submissions but the plan limit is reached, the other events of your organization used the limit. Withdrawn and deleted submissions also count.

If Submissions used this year doesn't match what you expect, contact support@fourwaves.com. Include the event name and a screenshot of the message, and say whether submitters are blocked.

What to tell your submitters

While the limit is reached, new submitters can't send their submission. Tell them that you're working on it and that they can submit when the form accepts submissions again. Submissions that you already received aren't affected.
