Set a Submission or Registration Limit

This article explains how to limit the number of submissions or registrations for your event, and what happens when a cap is reached.

You can set a maximum number of submissions or registrations to control capacity for your event.

Set a Submission Limit

A submission cap limits the total number of abstracts or papers that can be submitted to your event.

  1. In the event dashboard, go to Website Pages > Submission.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Under Set maximum number of event submissions, enter the maximum number of allowed submissions.

  4. Click Save.

Once the limit is reached, the submission form will display as closed to new submitters. You can increase the limit at any time to reopen submissions.

Set a Registration Limit

A registration limit limits the total number of participants who can register for your event.

  1. In the event dashboard, go to Website Pages > Registration.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Under Set maximum number of participants, enter the maximum number of allowed registrations.

  4. Click Save.

You can also set a limit per registration option (e.g., a limit of 50 spots for a specific ticket type). To do this, edit the individual option and toggle on Limit quantity. For example, to set a capacity limit for in-person registrations while keeping virtual registrations open:

  1. Navigate to the registration question where attendees choose between in-person and virtual options.

  2. Open the in-person option and click the edit icon.

  3. Toggle on the “Limit” option.

  4. Set the numerical limit for the in-person option. Virtual registrations can remain unrestricted to stay open.

Registration Waitlist

If you are using a registration cap, you can enable a waitlist to allow additional participants to sign up and be notified if spots become available. See Manage the registration waitlist for details.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What happens if I forget to set a closing date for registrations? A: Registrations will remain open indefinitely unless a closing date is configured in the settings. Q: Can I reopen registrations after the closing date? A: Yes, you can adjust the closing date and time in the settings to reopen registrations if needed.

Yes, in the form builder, edit the form option that contains the items you want to limit. In the side panel that opens, toggle on "Limit quantity" and enter the maximum quantity for this option (eg. 50). When the limit is reached, it will say "unavailable next to the form option".
