What are livestream links?
A livestream link is a URL connected to a room in your schedule. When a session takes place in that room, participants can click the Join button from the Schedule to access the livestream.
For example, if you are hosting a hybrid session in Room A and streaming it online, you can add a Zoom, YouTube Live, Vimeo, or other livestream link to that room.
Livestream options for a room
See this article on how to create a room.
Each room offers three livestream configuration options:
1. None
No livestream is associated with this room. Participants will only see the session details with the room name, with no option to join online.
2. External platform
Choose this option if your livestream is hosted outside of Fourwaves, for example on:
Zoom
Microsoft Teams
Cisco Webex
YouTube Live
Vimeo
Add the livestream URL in the External link field.
When participants click Join, they will be redirected to the external platform on their device and will leave the Fourwaves interface.
3. Virtual Poster Session
Select this option if the room is used for a Virtual Poster Session.
When enabled, virtual poster functionality will be available during the session.
(See the Virtual Poster Sessions article for more details.)
Access control for livestream links
When your schedule is publicly visible, the Join button remains visible to everyone.
However, to access the livestream link itself:
This allows you to publish your schedule publicly while keeping control over who can access livestream links.
Can livestreams be embedded directly in Fourwaves?
It is not possible to embed conferencing tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Webex directly inside Fourwaves without participants leaving the platform.
However, you can embed a video player for streaming platforms like YouTube Live or Vimeo on a page of your event website, allowing participants to watch without leaving Fourwaves.
How to embed a livestream player on your website
Go to the page where you want to display the livestream (for example, the homepage or a custom page).
Add or edit a Text block.
Click the Video icon (triangle inside a square).
Paste the URL of your livestream (for example, a YouTube Live link).
This will insert an embedded player directly on the page.
