You can choose whether other participants can send you direct messages, and which email notifications you receive about new messages. These preferences belong to your Fourwaves account, so they apply to every event you take part in.
Change your preferences
Log in to your Fourwaves account.
From the top right user menu, click My account.
Open the Preferences tab.
Turn each option on or off.
Click Save. A Preferences saved message confirms your changes.
All options are turned on by default.
Direct messages
Allow other participants to send me direct messages.
When you turn this off:
the Message button is hidden on your participant profile;
other participants can no longer start a new conversation with you;
conversations you already have stay open, and both of you can keep writing in them.
This applies to everyone, including event organizers. Organizers can still reach you through event emails and announcements.
Email notifications
Email me when I have new direct messages.
We group new messages together, so you never get more than one email per hour.
Email me when there's a new message in a discussion thread I'm part of.
This covers the discussion threads on your presentations and any thread you've taken part in.
Turning off an email notification doesn't hide any messages. You can still read them in Fourwaves at any time.
